Meet the psychologist
personal perspectives
I decided to begin a small private practice in 2023 as the mental health provider shortage continued to reach critical mass post pandemic. I wanted to create a way for people to really dig into themselves and their growth and do it in a way that actually worked with their busy lives.
I often find people who are skeptical about what therapy actually does or others who may be tired of trying to find a therapist with compassion and expertise who does not stick to manualized therapy books and checks boxes.
I enjoy taking psychological principles and translating those to real ways someone can make the changes they want.
It may be using knowledge you have about weight lifting and using that as an example of being uncomfortable in a way that creates strength and change. If you learned to tolerate the gradual discomfort of an increasing deadlift weight, you then have the experience of seeing that discomfort can lead to strength. That experience can then be translated into use for relationships, anxiety, or even work-related challenges.
I am curious to know how you see the world and help you find ways to use your skills and language to help you see new perspectives and DO new things.

training
Education is important, but often the additional training, supervision, and certifications are what brings clinical psychologists to the next level of expertise. Dr. Temple's post-graduate training includes specialized work in a variety of gold-standard psychological treatments for trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, and reproductive mental health. This specialized additional training involves months of intensive supervision by national experts in the therapeutic approach for each kind of therapy.
Dr. Temple has also served as a national consulltant through the National Center for PTSD for other psychologists learning prolonged exposure, the gold-standard treatment for PTSD and trauma.
